One Month!!!

Well we made it through the first month! It's hard to believe a month ago he wasn't even here yet and now he is a growing, grunting, snoring one month old with a huge appetite! I think it is safe to say we have learned a lot this first month. We have learned about Boone and what makes him happy and mad! :) But I think we have also learned a lot about ourselves. I know I have! I always knew I wanted to be a mom and having him here confirms everything I have felt but I also have such a new respect for all of the moms out there because let's not kid ourselves, it is hard work! But every minute I spend with him and watch him change and grow, I love him more and more! He is every thing I imagined and more. Happy 1 month Boone! You survived and we survived--that's something to celebrate! Another reason we are celebrating today is that Boone has a new cousin! Megan had her little boy Jake this morning at 8:15. He is 7 lb 8 oz and 21 inches! He is such a cute little man and mom and baby are both doing great so that is the best news! I am so sad that I didn't get to be there to meet him today but I am planning on taking Boone to go meet his new cousin and see his big cousin Laney soon. It is going to be so much fun to watch our kids grow up together. This next year is going to be a blast!

3 Weeks Old!!

Well Boone is 3 weeks old today! We were talking last night about how it feels like we have had him longer with us longer than that. Boone is doing great, he is changing every day and getting stronger and stronger. He is really trying to hold his head up--Brian was holding him the other day and he was pulling his head up and holding it off of Brian's shoulder. We both got a good laugh out of it because it was really cute and really strange looking at the same time. I took a picture of him when he was doing it and you can tell he was starting to get hungry because he looks like he is going to eat Daddy's face! We had a great weekend just hanging out with our little guy and relaxing. I even got to go run a few errands while Brian watched Boone-- I think it had been a full week since I had been out of the house and 3 since I had been anywhere without taking Boone (since the only place we have gone lately is to the Dr.'s office). It was really nice but I still found myself rushing around so I could get home to my two boys. Yesterday we had a bit of excitement because Boone lost his umbilical cord finally! I went to give him a washcloth bath, since he couldn't have a real one until the cord came off, and when I started to wash him off it was gone! So now he can have a REAL bath--it's amazing how exciting these things can be. So as you can see it was a super weekend all around for us. We are getting the hang of this parent thing and Boone is doing great so we must be doing some things right. Now if we can only get him to sleep through the night........ :)

Two week checkup

Well we had our two week checkup today and things continue to look great! We are so lucky to have such a sweet and healthy little man! Boone now weighs 9 pounds 1 ounce!!! He is back up and above his birth weight which is exactly what they wanted to see so we are extremely happy. Last night was our first night alone in our house with just the three of us. My mom (Grammy) left yesterday after being with us since Boone was born. It was so sad to see her go but we are so grateful and thankful that she was here with us for the first 2 weeks. I don't think we would have survived without her! Boone is such a lucky little guy to have a Grammy like her and so much family that loves him. Now it's up to me and Brian (poor Boone) and I think we are going to be o.k. We are really starting to figure Boone out as I guess he is figuring us out too. We are just one happy little family--even Sam is starting to like Boone--well like may not be the right word but he is tolerating him which we will take for now. I put some pictures on here from when me and Grammy were trying to get some good pictures for Boone's announcements. I put some of my favorites on here and then a couple that were just too cute to pass up like the smirk and his first play date with Anna, Dana's little girl.

Boone's Week

Well Boone is now 1 week and 2 days old! It's weird because it feels like he is so much older than that but I guess it is because we have been so busy with doctor's appointments and schedules that it just feels like we have been home with him longer than a week. He is doing great! We went back to the doctor on Monday to check his weight and make sure he was gaining what he had lost since we came home and he had put on 6 ounces in 3 days....Hurray! I should have known he was going to be an eater (like daddy and mommy). They said he looked great but she did make the comment that he was the size of a Kindergartner, he probably needs to get used to that, I think he will hear it often! Yesterday we had to take him to get the second part of his PKU test, this is a test they run on all newborns in Texas. They take a blood sample at the hospital then you have to repeat it within 2 weeks to check for developmental issues. They had to prick his heel and take quite a bit of blood. He cried and cried, it was HORRIBLE! I don't know how I am going to handle him getting shots and if he ever gets really hurt I will just lose it! I'm going to have to toughen up because that almost killed me watching him scream like that. But as soon as it was over he was off to sleep again, I don't think it affected him like it did me. He's a tough little guy! I have added some pictures from the last few days, I think he is tired of posing for so many pictures but I just can't stop he's so cute! Boone's 1st Doctors Appointment

Well we went in this morning so Boone's doctor could check him out and make sure everything looked good since we left the hospital and things look great. He has lost some weight since we left but that is pretty normal for babies and hopefully he will start putting that back on soon. He is such a great baby and we are just loving having him home with us. We have him in his Texas Tech outfit so we can cheer on the Red Raiders today, he's been good luck for us so far this season so hopefully he will keep it up for one more game!

He has arrived!

Boone made his grand entrance Monday December 29th at 5:35 p.m. We checked in at 5:30 that morning so it was about a 12 hour labor but it was all worth it for this little guy! He is 20 inches long and he weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz.!! Yes he is our BIG little guy! We had an amazing nurse Andrea who stayed with us after her shift was done and a great doctor who thank goodness knows how to handle big babies! He came out very bruised and blue, I felt so sorry for him, but he looks so much better now. There was a lot of family there to see him come into our lives and we are so grateful and thankful that they could all be there with us. It was nice to have people to talk to all day and keep me distracted plus they were all able to share his first hour of life with me and Brian. We feel so lucky. It was an extremely tiring day but one that I will never forget--we are so in love with Boone and are counting our blessings each day for this amazing little miracle. I will post more pictures soon but I have to go be a mom and give Boone a bath. I never would have imagined this would be the way I would be ringing in the New Year but I could not imagine doing anything better. Things are about the same

Well we just got back from the doctor and things haven't changed much this last week, even though I have been feeling A LOT more! But she said things look good and we will definitely be inducing on the 29th if he's not here by then. So we basically have 10 days left...WOW that is still so weird to think about. Tomorrow is my last day of school and while it is sad it will be nice to have a week to rest before our little man gets here. I have had several people comment on how big I am getting, even our doctor did today so I figured I would post one good belly shot. So this is me at 37 weeks (full term...yea)! My belly is measuring 39 weeks (Boone really needs to stop with the growth spurts)! I really don't feel this big but when I see myself from the side I have to agree it's a little ridiculous....most people just laugh at me now. I'm not sure if it's out of sympathy for what's to come or what. I have to say it's been a great 9 months and I'm just trying to enjoy the last few days. I go back on Tuesday so we will see if anything has changed but for now it looks like he will be here on the 29th.....we hope! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Dr. Visit

Ok well good news for us....I am dilated to a 2 and 60% effaced!!! I am SO excited! And I'm glad to know that everything I have been feeling really was something and I'm not just a crazy pregnant lady-- I think Brian thought I was just wanting to complain (well maybe that was a little of it). So we were hoping that we would be induced on the 29th but my Dr. informed us that she already has a waiting list... What?! We are still hoping for around then unless he decides to come on his own. He'll probably decide to come on Christmas, that would not surprise me at all. We go back next Thursday so we will let you know if anything has changed but please just keep us in your thoughts for these next few weeks--it's pretty crazy to think but Boone will be here before we know it!

Visitors!

Hey everyone! Last week some of Brian's family came in to see us and this week it was my turn with some of my family coming to visit. Mom and P.A. (a.k.a. Grammy-- or Mouse as Laney has named her and PaPaw) came to San Antonio for their annual visit. P.A. has work meetings every year here right after Thanksgiving and mom comes with him to do some Christmas shopping. It's nice because on the weekend they come stay at our house and we just get to hang out and cook and watch football. Although we wish Tech had been playing in the Big 12 championship (maybe next year) we were still able to watch some really good games. Me and Mom went to do all of the last minute shopping for the hospital--it is unbelievable all of the stuff you need to get ready for a baby! I think we are finally completely ready for him to come--maybe not mentally but we are getting there. It's still all pretty surreal! I'm so glad mom was here to do all of it with me because I probably would have forgotten half of it, I think we made about 20 loops around the store before we finally checked out---but we got it done! Now all I need to do is pack us a bag for the hospital--just in case he decides to come early. I made mom take a picture of me and Brian for Boone's baby book since we didn't have one of us since I have been in full pregnancy mode and I made mom take one with me too. Brian was determined to have the deer in the picture with us so I will at least put one with the deer on here too. I think he would have cut me and mom out of the picture if it meant getting a better shot of him! But that's o.k. we are pretty used to that by now. Meg sent a wreath for Boone's room with mom. She made it herself and we love it! It totally suits him (and he's not even here yet, but we have a pretty good feeling he will be like his daddy). It has little fishing gear and ducks all over it--it's really cute! I hung it on his door--now if he was only here to enjoy it with us. I'll have to put a picture of it in his scrapbook and get a picture of him with it when he gets here. Thanks Aunt Meg--you're the best! I also wanted y'all to see the cutest little girl ever, my niece Laney. She is sitting next to the giant Santa at my mom's house-- I think it's about Laney's size. I wish I was going to be in Odessa for Christmas this year to watch her open presents. I know she is going to have a ball, but we will be there next year for a pretty exciting Christmas with Laney, Jake and Boone! Oh that's going to be interesting! Well I hope you all had a great weekend too and we will keep you posted on things to come. We go to the doctor on Thursday to see if Boone has made any progress or if he is any closer to being here so we will be sure to let you know! Fingers Crossed! We are ready for our little man to be here with us (me especially)!
