8 Months Old!!

Well Boone is now 8 months old and with this comes new milestones for Boone and new challenges for Mom and Dad! :) Boone is now sitting up on his own (like going from crawling to sitting then back to crawling). It's crazy to watch him get around. He's still army crawling--I've seen no desire from him to try the real thing but he seems content so I am too. Besides he;s fast enough this way I'm not ready for full speed yet! He's also starting to pull up which is super scary! See pictures below......Things are great as usual-- Boone is doing awesome and is growing like crazy. I don't know how much he weighs now but he's almost 30 inches now and I'm just guessing but I would say around 24 pounds. Everyone Boone meets seems to have the same two reactions 1. He's so handsome and has beautiful blue eyes (no I'm not just saying this because I'm his mom--they really always say that!! :) Ha Ha) and 2. He's so ____ (insert word here) heavy, thick, solid, huge, big! We are so blessed to have a strong healthy little man. We've had the best 8 months and to think before too long we'll be celebrating a year! Crazy!! This week was good. Brian

turned 29! (Sorry I didn't do a post for your birthday Brian--but you know I love you and like I said enjoy your last twenty something year!) My first week of school was pretty good. There are always challenges with the first week of Kindergarten but I have a really great group (chatty but great!) and I think it's going to be a good year. Keep the prayers coming though because it's never an easy day with 19 5 & 6 yr olds! Hope you all had a good week too and a nice relaxing weekend...love you all

Craziness!!!

Well a lot has happened and is happening....as usual! Our weeks are no longer quiet and slow-- they are full of energy and noise and they seem to just fly by! I have to first say Happy Birthday to several people. I have been so busy lately that when I have been on here it's been really brief and since I haven't updated in a few weeks I need to go back for a minute. First Happy 60th Birthday to both my Dad and my Aunt B. I can't believe yall are 60---you sure make it look good! Happy Birthday to P.A. who just had his birthday yesterday and to my brothers Carson and Houston who both had birthdays recently. Love you all and hope your special day was perfect. So anyway as you can see from the pictures Boone is all over the place. He is army crawling now and it is hilarious. He uses one arm as a buffer and then pulls with the other one. I have to say he gets around really well....in fact I wish he was a little slower (j/k) He gets from one side of the house to the other in no time now. He gets into everything. The girls at day care have started to "jail" him since he is starting to attack the other babies feet--to chew on! We could tell there must have been a tooth coming because he was drooling even more than usual this week and chewing on everything. And we were right because yesterday morning there was a tooth poking through on the bottom. His 1st tooth!!! I'm not ready for all of this!! Anyway he is also babbling non stop and loves to say da da now. Of course that would be the first thing he said... :). We had a playdate with Reid and Anna the other day. The last one of the summer. They were precious as always! Reid is all over the place. We would look up and he'd be running down the hall then would find his way back to us soon after. Anna was showing off her dance moves for us--it was precious! They had a great time together but as usual I think the moms enjoyed it more. Chad and Stephanie came over last night to cook out--it was a blast as usual. We didn't stay up as late as we usually do-- in fact I was in bed by 10--does that mean I'm getting old? School starts tomorrow and I have a feeling the morning will come sooner than I want. Please pray for me tomorrow as I will attempt to wrangle 19 5 yr olds into a single straight line. I think I can....I think I can... ha ha!! Love you all and hope you have a great week.

What a way to end the summer...

Well I have to say it has been an amazing summer! More fun than I ever thought it would be and I was expecting a lot! :) Just kidding-- But I knew it was going to be a great summer since I would be at home with Boone (and fortunate enough to not have to work) and I just thought we would be hanging out all summer playing and having a great time. Well we did that! We had a ton of lazy play days and even some sick so we had to stay home days but what was even better than that is this crazy connection that we have always had is like a million times more now. It totally breaks my heart to know that I don't get to spend my mornings in bed with him anymore--since Daddy has morning feedings in the school year. That is by far my favorite time of the day with Boone. We just lay and talk and play and cuddle--my sweet little boy--I'm going to miss that so much. I know I still have weekends so that is something to look forward too but I have to say I will be missing those and might have to sneak in a few during the week! :) We did have a great week though-- Boone went to day care and did awesome as always-- the girls there love him still which gives me hope for the future-- I'm a little worried for his elementary teachers-- I might be wrong but something tells me I'm not! :) Anyway we had a great week but we did have a few unexpected occurrences-- I'll start with the one that required a visit to the doctor. So Boone has had a little rash on his tummy since we switched his diapers (since Mr. 21 pounds 11 ounces has outgrown his other ones....AGAIN!!) and since he has sensitive skin anyway--poor guy-- we didn't think much of it and just put some hydracortizone on it and went on since that is what we normally do. Well it wasn't going away so I decided to make an appointment to see the doctor just to rule out anything worse--well that next morning I woke up and was changing Boone and found what looked like a blister on his penis (I can hear the collective Ouch from all of the men out there) So of course I freak out and panic until we get to the doctor's office and they inform me that Boone has a pimple on his penis! WHAT?! I've never heard of that but if that's the worst then I'll take it. She offered to pop it but I told her I'd rather my son not be scarred for life but thank you anyway. :) He is doing much better and the rash was just dry/sensitive skin so we are back to normal until the next big thing---it's always something right?! OK so my next story was about our little family trip to Babies R Us. So we are in the store shopping--Boone is sitting in the cart and he starts to take care of some business-- well it sounded like it might be a little rough to get out (lots of grunting noises---imagine the looks Brian was getting--j/k) and so I asked Brian if he would just get him out and carry him --make things a little easier for him. So I'm looking at toys and Brian picks one up and is disgusted to find something greenish brown on his hands--well we all know what that is and we were disgusted to think some kid wiped their poop on the toy and now Brian has it on his hands! YUCK! So I get out my wipes--get him clean and go back to shopping. Flash forward 30 seconds to Brian coming around the corner with poop all over his hands, arms, and the worst look EVER on his face! Yes it was a massive blowout and that was Boone's poop on the toy. We had to make an emergency visit to the family room for a wipe down and a fresh set of clothes-- good thing we came prepared! Oh and for those of you wondering about the toy........don't worry we put the one we were going to get back (maybe another time Boone) and bought the one we pooped up! And yes we Cloroxed it when we got home! What a day! This weekend was great-- we went and tried a new burger place (so so) and hung out with some friends and grilled today. Plus Boone is doing some really cool things now like saying Da Da and feeding himself little crackers! It's so awesome! All in all it was a nice week and a great weekend. El Papalote

So we went down to the ranch this weekend and it was a ton of fun. Actually Boone and I hung around here while Brian and Chad and Stephanie went down on Friday. Leslie and Dustin also came in from Midland and then of course Trey was there too....and Larry :) Then Saturday afternoon Boone and I drove down to meet up with everyone. I figured that Boone really didn't want to be in that south Texas heat all day and even though the house now has A/C it just didn't seem like a good idea. But anyway we ended up getting there around 5 and it is a good thing we got there when we did because Boone was screaming at me the last 45 minutes of the ride! It was HORRIBLE!!! I could get him calmed down for a few minutes then he was off again. Needless to say I have never been so happy to get to my destination! :) We had a great time just hanging out with everyone--it's always fun when we all get together. Leslie and Stephanie were super sweet aunts and watched Boone while we went to drive around and see the ranch. It is so awesome down there..... I can't wait until Boone is old enough to really appreciate it. Thanks Steph and Les for being awesome baby sitters.... I think you are both ready for kids of your own...hint hint!! It was a quick trip but very fun and as always by the beginning of the week I am exhausted...now shouldn't that be the other way around?! Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy the week ahead. I know I will--it's my LAST week before school starts back!!! I know pity party of one but man I'm just not ready! :)
