Summer is Here!

Well summer is here! I guess my 1st official day off will be tomorrow-- I'm very excited. The last week of school was good-- always bittersweet because I really do miss my class so much--just being around them everyday and how they make me laugh-- but I am so looking forward to my time off with Boone. I had to work all day yesterday (silly right?!) but Brian did such a good job taking care of Boone and although he was glad to see me when I got home (of course...ha ha) I think he had a really good time just hanging out with his Daddy! Boone is doing good-- he still has a nasty sounding cough but it's not as bad. He has a good appetite and seems happy so that's good. He gets fussy occasionally but I think it is his teeth bothering him because he is constantly chewing and drooling! :) Today Brian was out mowing the yard and he came across a tiny fawn in the high grass. It's an area I always ask him to mow because it looks horrible but it's really close to the huge cactus out front so you can't really see it. Well he was mowing it and almost mowed right over the deer. He said it was shaking all over but we never saw the mom. Then I went out to take some pictures and the mom jumped up from our neighbors yard. She is keeping an eye on her baby. Brian saw it try to stand up but then laid back down. I love this time of the year in our neighborhood because there will be babies everywhere but this is definitely the closest I have ever gotten to experience it and it is incredible! I got Boone's jumperoo that his Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Chad got him and he LOVES it! I posted a video and hopefully I will get a new one soon that you can see. I know this is a week late but I forgot to post on Memorial Day-- we got busy I guess but I wanted to say Happy Memorial Day anyway and thanks to all who have served and those that are serving now. We are so grateful for everything you do for us and realize that we are free because you chose to protect us. Thank you all! And a special Hi and Thank you to our cousin Ben who just got back from serving -- we are so glad to have you back here with us and safe. Hope you all had a great Memorial Day and the rest of your week and weekend. We go to the doctor tomorrow at 11:30 so I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all of your love and concern. We love you all!
The fawn Brian found in the yard-- you can see where he had already mowed
Close up-- so sweet

The big 5 month old wants to hold his own bottles now! :) He looks shocked that he's holding it

Boone can almost roll from back to tummy but he still hasn't figured out how to move his arm-- or roll over it

Looking confused but wait......

HE LOVES IT!!!!!

This was the first time I put him in it and you can see him start to figure it all out. I will get a new one of him because he goes crazy in it now. Thanks again Chad and Steph!!

5 Months Old!

Well we made it through another month! :) Boone is 5 months old today and we celebrated it in a very memorable way....just not the way I would have wanted too. A few days ago Boone got a nasty sounding cough and since it wasn't getting any better I made an appointment for him this morning. Brian took him in and the doctor told him it was a cold and a slight ear infection but nothing to worry about.....definitely not RSV. Well 2 hours later we got the call that it was RSV so you can imagine how shocked we were. I left school to go pick him up and Brian picked up some medicine for him so hopefully he will be feeling better soon. It's so sad because I know he feels bad but he's so tough! He hardly acts like he hurts at all. Plus the doctor said he was teething so the poor little guy has so much going on. But on a happy note last night Jeff came to stay with us on his way down to the ranch. It was so nice to see him and of course Boone loves his Pops so much! And to make things even better today is Jeff's birthday so it was nice to share that with him. Happy Birthday Pops! We'll keep yall posted on Boone but if you could keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery we would be so grateful. Love you all and Happy 5 months Mr. Boone--- we love you so much sweet boy!

Growing Up!

It is so amazing to me how quick Boone is growing up. This week we were able to get out his high chair for the first time. He had been sitting in his bouncy chair while we ate but it is low to the ground and I think he was getting annoyed that he couldn't see what was going on so we got the high chair out (thanks Les and Dustin) and he loves it. He has figured out how to prop his legs up so now he loves to do that while he eats. It really is funny. We feed him baby food every night now-- usually when we are eating dinner or right before if he can't wait. He definitely has his favorites already. Bananas we LOVE!! Sweet Peas-- not so much! It's really funny to watch his face when he tries something new. And sometimes he will love something until the 5th bite or so and then all of the sudden it's like the worst thing ever. Too funny! Amber stayed with us Tuesday night on her way down to Port Aransas. It was so much fun just hanging out with her and Boone of course loved his Aunt Amber-- I mean who wouldn't?! She left Wed. morning but we are going to go see her this summer--we can't wait! Boone has been doing some other new things this week like grabbing his feet. He has done this before randomly but now it is all the time. He just grabs for them and rolls. I love it! He also discovered how much he loves his lights and sounds toy Meg gave him. He was sitting up with it the other day and I didn't even realize it until I backed away from him. He is getting so strong and before we know it he will be sitting up all on his own! He has just started to love seeing himself in the mirror so this toy is perfect. I got a good shot of him laughing but I love the goofy face he made. He has the best faces-- he's been scrunching his nose lately and that has to be my favorite. I'll try to get it on film soon. Hope you all have a wonderful day off tomorrow and we love you!

Loving the high chair-- what a big boy!

I had to scoot back to take a picture of Boone sitting up! (with a little help from the toy)

He looks like a little elf :)

I love this pic. I don't know why they came out blurry though

Gagging on something :) But check out that bib!!!

OK so here is a video of Boone one night when I was getting his bath ready. I stuck him in his bed with just a diaper on (he loves that) and he was all over the place. It's kind of long but cute anyway!

Summer is almost here!

WOW! I am getting so excited for summer to be here and for us to get to see our friends and family. I only have one full week left and I know it will be flying by since I still have so much to do. We had a great week at home and work and Boone had a great week at day care. The girls keep telling me how much personality he has now and how big his smiles are. I think they are loving all of his new things. I heard him going na na na na the other day when he was playing. It was really cute. But has he done it since....of course not! I know I'll catch it soon and hopefully I can get it on video. Now if I can just get him to say ma ma or maybe I should push for da da! :) Tuesday night my class had their end of the year music program so Brian was nice enough to come up to school and watch Boone during the show. I wanted to bring Boone so the parents could see him-- I mean they were all so sweet when I took off two months to have him so I at least wanted them to be able to meet him after all of that. He was so tired from day care and not having a nap so right when the kids were getting ready to perform he fell asleep. Cheryl watched him for half of the time then Brian took over. What great babysitters! :) Oh and of course everyone loved him. I heard "He is so big" and "He looks like a little man already" and I have to say I agree with both of those statements! Last night we went over to Dan and Cheryl's and they cooked us a TON of really good food--- it was all so yummy! Boone started to get fussy so we had to leave but with summer coming up it will be fun to get to see them more. Brian worked in the yard most of the day and I helped for a little while-- as long as Boone would stand it and have just been taking it easy since. Hope you all had a nice weekend too and a great week ahead!

After the big kindergarten program

It feels SO good to stretch :)

Daddy and Boone (ready for bed)

Brian woke Boone up the next morning-- he was not ready to get up. As soon as Brian put him on the changing table he was out again!

Getting tickled by Mommy!

Out like a light!

Ellie was VERY protective of Boone when he was outside with us. (Don't worry it looks like he is in the sun but he's not--- I promise!)

Then Sam got curious!

One watching from above and one next to him

Ellie at her post! SO sweet!!! :)

Look Alikes

I was looking at these two pictures at work the other day and I really think Laney and Boone look alike here. Laney was around 9 months (I think) and Boone is 4 in this picture. This is my favorite picture of Laney ever. Cute Cousins!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there! It is hard for me to believe that I am now celebrating Mother's Day. It is a major milestone for me I have to say. I had a great day-- I just hung out with Boone and worked on some things around the house. Brian got the yard mowed and went and picked up lunch for us. Boone slept a lot today-- I think he is still worn out from yesterday. I got some really sweet cards from everyone-- Thank you all. Especially my two boys. I love being a mom and I love now being able to celebrate Mother's Day-- I'll take any new holiday I can get! :) So being more serious thank you to all of the moms in my life. Mom-- thanks for being there when I had a million questions about Boone. You have taught me so much already and I know there is so much more to come. So thanks in advance. You are a great friend and I'm so lucky to have you. Nancy-- Thank you so much for always being so helpful and giving. You are such a thoughtful person and we are all so glad you are in our lives. We can't wait to see you this summer (only 2 1/2 weeks) :) Cindy, first I have to thank you for your son. Thank you for raising him the way you did and for making him such a wonderful man. He is very lucky to have you as a mom. Thanks for all of your help with Boone this year. He has loved all of your visits and we can't wait to see you soon! B- you are like a 2nd mom to me and you have always been so good to me and Meg. Thanks for loving us so much! Goggy and Mois- thanks for giving us a great family foundation. You raised some wonderful women who have been amazing moms and we are so thankful to you for that. Thanks for being Boone's Greatest Great Grandmothers! We miss you all and love you so much! Happy Mother's Day!!

4 month check up and El Papalote

Well I hope you have all had a good week- we have been lucky with another great week. Boone had his 4 month checkup on Tuesday and things went well. They weighed him -- 17 lbs. 5 oz., measured him -- 25 1/2 inches, and gave him his 4 month immunizations. He did really good and didn't cry too much. It's a good thing too because I don't handle him crying very well. I'm glad he is a tough little man already. They said with his measurements he is in the 90% for weight and 75% for height and head circumference. He had a great height growth spurt so he has sort of evened out. Boone has really been sleeping well too. Wednesday night (or Thursday morning I guess) he slept
until 5:15 but on Friday morning he slept until 5:45. We had to wake him up to get him ready to go to day care. That was a first for us. It freaked me out a little when I woke up and realized I hadn't heard him at all that night but when I went to check on him he was fine. Last night he woke up at 2 so I can't say we are sleeping through the night yet but I can now say I have had a full uninterrupted night of sleep.....and it was great! Saturday morning we woke up early to go down to El Papalote (the ranch) to see Leslie and Dustin who drove in from Midland with some friends of theirs Chase and Erin. Chad and Stephanie were also down there so we got to see everybody. It was my first time to see the ranch and oh my gosh it is beautiful. The views are amazing and the house is so incredible. I just know lots of good memories and stories are going to happen at that
place. We didn't stay long since it is getting so hot down here during the day. It was supposed to get up over 100 so we decided we would rather get up early and then leave around lunch. And everyone else was going to float the river anyway so it worked out perfect. It was nice too because we got home at a decent hour and we were still able to grill out. It has been a really nice weekend so far. Hope you have all had a great one as well and we love you all!

After one of our walks (look how great the grass looks! Yay Brian!)

I was giving Boone some carrots and asked Brian to feed him some while I started his bath water....well as you can see the counter and Boone's bib got more than Boone
