It's us again!! (sorry I couldn't think of a better title!)

Well I am late again and I think this is the last time I will even acknowledge that because it's getting old....even to me!!! So from now on don't expect posts on Sunday (just so you're not let down) but I promise you I will try to get at least one in some time during the week. It is just so hard to get everything done during the day and still have time to spend with my two favorite boys. Plus what time I do have left over is usually spent getting ready for the days ahead or trying to catch up on some rest. So anyway on to the fun stuff. We have had a really great week. We have been spending most of our time, when we are home, outside because the weather has been gorgeous! Well that is until today. Now it's rainy and it's getting COLD!!! Poor Boone really loves to play outside so days like this make it hard when all he wants is to be out there and I'm sitting there trying to explain to him that he really doesn't want to! He's so stubborn sometimes!!! I wonder where he gets that......hmmmmm :) Last weekend we went to the ranch with Chad and Stephanie and had a really great time! We just hung out and relaxed. Brian didn't hunt this time and it was so nice for me and Boone because we got to spend the whole weekend together. We went rock hunting (I needed them for school this week) and we got to see a ton of deer while we were driving around. It was so much fun, plus we got to hang out with Chad, Steph and Zoe and I mean come on...how much better can it get!?! ;) Boone slept the entire way home--needless to say he was worn out. We still had half of the day Sunday to just lay around which was really nice. This week has been great, busy as always, but great. We are going to Odessa this weekend for Jake's 1st birthday. (HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY JAKE!!! We can't wait to see you and Laney this weekend!!) I'm really excited to see them and for Boone to get to play with his cousins again. Jake's walking now so it should be a CRAZY time with all of them!! We hope you all had a great week (tomorrow's Friday....YAY!) and have a wonderful weekend! Love you all!!! :)

Boone's ready to grill

1 Year Checkup!

So we had Boone's big one year checkup last Monday and everything went great. He is still big for his age 85% for head and weight and 75% for height. Our doctor said he looked great and told us what was to come in the months before we see her again (15 months) then came the bad part. Shots!! They took a blood sample first but they just pricked his toe and squeezed it out--which I'm sure was not pleasant but he did great and didn't cry at all. But then the shots came--3 of them, 2 in one leg and one in the other. He screamed like he always does and turned bright red but he got over it really quick--he's a toughie!! We had a great week! We went and say a show Tuesday night. Brian won tickets that morning and we called our babysitter and luckily she could watch Boone so we went and watched Micky Braun sing live and Ray Wylie Hubbard played too. It was amazing-- I have a short video I'll post later. It was a really nice night for us--we had a great time. Thursday after school I brought Boone up to school and Dana brought Anna so we could let them play. It was so cute. Boone was really shy at first and Anna was so excited to see him--so sweet! They played and talked--well Anna did most of the talking but we had a really great time. I laugh so hard at those too and the things they do. I love this age!! The week was really good too because it was a short one for me because we had Friday off too so we had a really great 4 day weekend. We were able to lay around and play with Boone and get some things done around the house---FINALLY!! It was a really great weekend. Boone had to say goodbye to the bottle for good this weekend. We had been slowly taking away bottles knowing that we would soon have to have him off it completely since they don't do bottles in the 12-18mth class at day care. But he was not happy about this new change at all. At first he wanted nothing to do with the sippy cup, even though he has been drinking out of one (reluctantly) for a few months now. But then he gave in and drank a ton one night. Then the next morning he wouldn't want it at all. So who knows!?! We are being good about not giving in so I'm proud of us for that but man he is stubborn sometimes!! He also didn't want to nap much this weekend but I guess that just means he's trying to grow up on me. Sometimes I think I'm the one having the hardest time dealing with all of the changes--my baby is turning into a little boy! We had a really great time with Boone this weekend--the weather was nice part of the time so we were outside a lot. Brian got Boone's swing hung up (sorry those pics didn't make it this time-- I took them after I had uploaded this weeks pics) so we did that a few times. We hung out in bed talking--Boone is quite the conversationalist now, we went to the car wash --tons of fun watching all of the tubes and sprayers everywhere. Just random stuff but a really great weekend. Hope you all had a good long one too and enjoy the new pictures of my nonstop, busy all day, needing a hair cut, sweet, loving little man!!

Brushing my teeth!

New Years at the Ranch

Happy New Year! I know I'm about a week late but hey, better late than never! That seems to be my motto lately. I just can't ever seem to catch up. Being back at school makes it that much more difficult especially since we are doing all of our mid year assessments and report cards--oh what fun! Brian is out of town until Saturday which adds a whole lot more to my schedule so needless to say I am already WORN OUT!!! Anyway about the Ranch--we had a great time as always! We usually spend every New Years with Brian's family. I'm not sure how that tradition started but we've done it since our first year together back in 2000! I think the only year we missed was last year and oh my what a difference a year makes. New Years last year we were both asleep by 9 and ringing in the new year with a midnight feeding. We had a great New Years Eve and we actually made it to midnight--well some of us did! :) It's always fun hanging out with that crew and you know you are in for some laughs--that's for sure!! The rest of the week we hung out and drove around the ranch. We got to hunt a lot (Thanks Lou, Adele, Les and Steph for watching Boone for us) and we got some really nice deer (that's coming later). We also got to celebrate Boone's birthday with Brian's family (again that will be coming later in a different post) and it was a ton of fun. They showered him with gifts and tons and tons of love! He was so cute with everyone there, especially Grandma Lou. Brian was sad (well not really) one time when Boone jumped from his arms into hers and then he held out his but Boone did not jump back....ha ha! Brian got all pouty and kept trying so Boone finally came back but went straight back to Lou. He is a riot and boy he is TALKING!!! Non stop talking! I wish I knew what he was saying to me but I can only imagine. Actually half the time I might not want to hear what he has to say to me. :) The girls at day care said he was shaking his finger at them like he was mad and saying "doh" which I thought meant dog because he says that a lot but when I started watching him I think he is saying "no" because he hears me say it ALL the time! I mean that boy is everywhere he is not supposed to be and he thinks it is hilarious. I do have to say he is pretty good about stopping whatever he's doing but every once in a while he tests me and tries to get away with stuff. Well now that I have rambled on and on all I can say is it was a great way to end our exciting and busy year and the new year has been good to us so far. I'm looking forward to a weekend at home so I can get my house back in order and maybe even catch a nap...or two. Hope you all had a great holiday and we wish you a healthy and happy 2010! Love you all!!

WARNING!!!!
If you do not want to see the deer we shot then don't scroll down
(you can't complain now because I warned you!)
Dustin's deer (the video of this hunt was really great!)

My buck!! I am so proud of him!! It was not the best shot-- he came out and I shot him a little back then he ran back into the brush. We thought he probably went down in there but as we were getting ready to leave to look for him he stepped back out. I was getting ready to shoot him again when he fell over. I was SO excited!! Not only that I had this awesome deer but that he was actually down and not wounded somewhere where we weren't going to find him. We are getting him mounted and I can't wait to see him when it's done. YAY!!! Now I actually have one in the house. :)

Trey, Leslie and Me all with the deer we got on New Years Eve! Like Jeff said that's quite a way to end 2009!
